How routing works
You set it up once on a link, and every click after that is sorted for you.
Start with a default
Every link has a default destination. Visitors who match no rule always land there, so nobody hits a dead end.
Add rules for the exceptions
Choose a platform, a country or a device, then the destination those visitors should get instead.
The most specific rule wins
When several rules match, Chirlo picks the one that describes the visitor most precisely.
Pause without deleting
Switch a rule off while a campaign is paused and turn it back on later.

Questions about smart routing
- What is smart routing?
- Smart routing lets one link lead to different destinations. When someone clicks, Chirlo looks at the platform they came from, their country and their device, and sends them to the destination you chose for visitors like them.
- Which plan includes smart routing?
- The free plan includes one routing rule per page, based on the platform a visitor came from. Plus includes 50 rules per page, and Pro adds routing by country and by device.
- Will visitors notice they are being routed?
- No. They click a link on your page and arrive at the destination. The decision happens instantly on the way.
- How does Chirlo know a visitor’s country or device?
- From the request itself: the country reported by the network and the type of device the browser describes. Chirlo does not store visitor IP addresses or precise locations.
- What happens when no rule matches?
- The visitor goes to the link’s default destination. Routing only ever adds a better option, it never blocks a click.
